ANTI  INFLAMMATORY DIET
An Anti inflammatory diet has helped some people. Top anti inflammatory foods are:

  •  garlic, onion, ginger, tumeric,chilli, rosemary, thyme  
  • carrots, pumpkin, sweet potato, all leafy green vegetables eg spinach, kale, rocket, celery,         
  • olive oil, ghee                                  
  • walnuts, almonds, pepitas (pumpkin seeds)
  • carrot juice or other vege juices, green tea, herbal teas, mineral water, club soda, spring water, squeeze of lemon or lime in spring water 
  • banana, mango, pear, peach, guava

ALLERGY DIET

An allergy diet: a percentage of Sjogren's sufferers have food intolerances or allergies. Try removing the main culprits from your diet for one month to see if your symptoms improve i.e. wheat and dairy.

COELIAC CONNECTION

Small bowel biopsy has revealed the occurence of a coeliac like disease in 15% of primary Sjogren's Syndrome patients. Ongoing inflammation is often present in the small bowel mucosa of SS patients. DR WEST'S PROTOCOL

GREEN TEA may prevent or slow down  autoimmune diseases.  It is a natural treatment being studied by Dr. Stephen Hsu, a researcher in the Medical College of Georgia, USA.  A component of green tea called EGCG helps suppress inflammation, according to Dr. Hsu.
